Duplin Early College High School, home of the Mavericks, is located in Kenansville, NC on the campus of James Sprunt Community College. Duplin Early College High School, offers our rising 9th graders a unique opportunity to earn their high school diploma and a 2-year degree simultaneously, all while saving their parents their first two years of college expenses. Students that are accepted attend free of charge, their books, tuition, and travel to and from are all provided for the students.
Each year ALL 8th graders are given the opportunity to apply to become a part of the Maverick Family. The application process starts in the month of February of 2023 for ALL 8th-graders enrolled in Duplin County Schools. Each student is given an application that requires two teachers' recommendations, an interview, and finally, the selection process. All 3 components will need to be completed to be considered. Students are notified by mail prior to the end of the school year.
Applications are available in English and Spanish and require 2 Teacher Recommendations, which are to be placed in a sealed envelope prior to being turned in to Ms. Dixon. Applications should be completed in their entirety with 2 Teacher Recommendations (1 Core Teacher and 1 Resource Teacher) before your application can be accepted.
