Eagle Parents and Families:

I am excited to be your new principal! I look forward to continuing all the great things already in place at RHM. A little about my professional background - after teaching and coaching for eight years, I began my administrative career as an Assistant Principal at Charity Middle School and then Wallace Elementary School. My first principalship followed at Wallace Elementary. From there, I served as an Achievement Coach for Duplin County Schools and a School Transformation Coach for the NC Department of Public Instruction. I worked in New Hanover County Schools after that as a Principal and Human Resources Supervisor. I returned to Duplin County Schools last year as Chief Communications Officer and, most recently, served a short stint in Pre-K.

With all of that said, being a principal is truly where my heart and talent lie. I am passionate about teaching and learning and student growth. I feel confident that together we can make this a great year! I have a lot of educational experience, but I need your expertise about Rose Hill-Magnolia. What is wonderful? What is working? Where are there challenges? What are your suggestions?

I look forward to asking these questions of teachers, students, parents, and the community.  It is important to hear all voices as I learn about the school. I encourage everyone to find and speak the positives.  We must acknowledge and build upon them. Where we find areas for improvement, we must be united and solution-oriented. I promise to listen, problem-solve, serve, and work tirelessly to continue to grow our school into the best it can be.

I urge you to be an active participant in your children’s education.  For some it may be possible to do things at school like volunteering in classrooms or chaperoning field trips. However, you can be engaged in your child’s success from the comfort of your home. Talk about what they are learning. Provide a routine for homework. Check their bookbag for communications from school. Make sure they get to bed at a decent hour and that they come to school every day and on time. If school is important to you, it will be to your child also.

Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation. I can’t wait to get to know your kids and partner with you to help them grow their wings and SOAR!
